Why I Love Me A Side-Hustle: Are Side-Hustles The Future of Work?

It seems like every man and his 🐶 has a side-hustle these days! And I think they’re pretty smart cookies TBH!
Side hustles can bring SO MUCH learning, value and extra cash money 💵 to your life. Not to mention how great the experience can look on your resume.
While working a busy corporate job in Paris, I started my own Youtube channel which I grew to over 110,000 subscribers in under 2 years. Some months, I replaced my corporate salary through brand deals.
It’s pretty crazy that talking to my camera in my living room once per week could impact so many people all over the world and allow me to have extra funds to travel, pay off my student loan and save for a house. But that’s the world we live in now! 💻📷Anyone with a wifi connection can get started, that’s how low the barrier to entry is!
Growing my Youtube channel to 110,000 subscribers on top of a demanding day job is one of the most empowering things I’ve ever done.
Here are just a few reasons I’m a BIG fan of the side-hustle:
🛠️ You learn NEW SKILLS that you never would have in your day job (I learned about entrepreneurship, video creation, digital marketing, social media and community management by night while working in HR by day).
💡 It’s a low-risk way to see if it’s ACTUALLY something you want to pursue. Do you really want to switch from your legal career to becoming a wellness coach? Test it out while having the stability of your day job.
🎨 It’s a CREATIVE OUTLET. You can design t-shirts on websites that manage the actual printing and shipping for you, sell cross-stitch designs on Etsy, make business cards, self-publish a book, design online courses that will help people solve problems or learn something new… the opportunities are endless! Whatever it is, you design and create it.
Most importantly, it gives you OPTIONS for the future. We like options!
If your life is turned upside down (your job is lost in a restructure, your spouse needs to move for their job...), you have your own thing going on, managed by YOU. With most side-hustles, you can work from anywhere in the world and still have both active and passive income rolling in.
